Forensic police officers at a meeting in Shenyang, China, were hugely impressed when new technology helped them to uncover some latent fingerprints to provide new casework evidence.
Technical experts from Foster + Freeman Ltd visited Shenyang to demonstrate new technology to more than 140 forensic police officers. During the two day event in September 2009, at which their latest instrumentation for detecting and processing latent fingerprints was demonstrated, some difficult casework was presented to the Foster + Freeman team.
Using the company’s DCS-4 fingerprint imaging system, the company’s experts were able to develop a fingerprint that had previously been hidden under a blood stain.
Officers were also shown the company’s new Crime-Lite®2, a range of LED forensic light sources suitable for laboratory and crime scene investigations. The lights provide intense illumination with narrow band widths for locating and examining evidence.
